It may be true that “King” David is not going through a good period, but there is something for certain: he is one of those opponents nobody wants to face due to his top-quality tennis, his talent and mental strength which allow him to play head-to-head against any opponent. This is the reason why it is not strange that he holds one of the best records against the best of the world. During his career, since 2001, the man from Cordoba has faced opponents ranked among the top-10 of the world 57 times, winning 22 times. Against the top-3, he played 23 times, winning 9. He is even to the current best three, Roger Federer (1), Rafael Nadal (2) and Novak Djokovic (3). His record against the Swiss is 9 wins and 9 defeats; he is 2-0 over “Rafa” and 1-2 under “Nole”.
