Nalbandian´s Eight US Open
At the end of August, and as soon as the Olympic Games in Beijing are over, David Nalbandian will participate in the fourth and last Grand Slam of the season: the US Open. This will be the eight participation of the man from Cordoba in the Major on hard courts, which is played in the Flushing Meadows courts and awards a 10-million-dollar prize to be distributed. The man from Cordoba made his debut in this Grand Slam in 2001 and reached the third round where he was eliminated by the Russian Yevgeny Kafelnikov in four sets. In 2003 he gave his best performance when reaching the semi-finals against the American Andy Roddick. At that moment, suffering from injuries in the abdominals and wrist and with great pain, he had a match point which Roddick saved with three incredible serves. Then the match passed up. Hard surfaces are the ones that best suit the man from Cordoba; that is why in 2008 he must also be considered a rival to anybody.
