For David, Roger and Rafa´s Secret is Regularity.
The holders of the top positions of the world ranking have not changed for 157 weeks. Number one is Roger Federer and number 2 the Spaniard Rafael Nadal. This week, in the Cincinnati Masters Series, positions can be changed, but just between them. David is one of the few players who has beaten them, in fact trashed them, even during the same tournament. That was in the Madrid and Paris Masters Series in 2007. However, they are still at the top. What is their secret? David analyzes them: “They are nowadays the most regular players in the circuit. That’s more than obvious. They are two phenomena who are at the top, they are tough and it is hard to do what they do”. The man from Cordoba has been able to beat them, but the Swiss and the Spaniard manage to continue at the top. “There is no doubt that they are more regular than me”, Nalbandian admits. Is it a mental matter? “It may be a little mental, but their quality and all the other things have a great influence”, he explains. The record is even among the three of them: David is 8-9 to Federer and 2-0 to Nadal. No less.
