Marcos Daniel, First Obstacle for David in the US Open.
The Brazilian Marcos Daniel (30 years old, 81st in the world ranking) will be David Nalbandian´s first opponent in the US Open, fourth Grand Slam of the season, beginning next Monday in Flushing Meadows. They have never faced each other in the circuit. Argentine number one has recently participated in the Olympic Games (he lost to the French Gael Monfils), and this year he won the ATP in Buenos Aires and reached the finals in Acapulco. For him, this will be his eight consecutive US Open, where he got to semifinals in 2003. For his part, the Brazilian´s best performance this season has been in quarter-finals in the ATP in Houston. Daniel started the season ranked 105th and reached the 72nd position last June , being this his best season. He has only participated once in the US Open, in 2006, and was eliminated in the first round. Things are not supposed to be that complicated for the man from Cordoba.
