David, another Resounding Victory
David Nalbandian, the man from Corboba, achieved again a resounding victory and is in the third round of the US Open, the fourth Grand Slam of the year. In the second round he defeated Andrev Golubev, from Kazakhstan, 6-2, 6-4 and 6-2, in one hour and 59 minutes. Nalbandian made few mistakes (14 against 41 of his opponent), had a high percentage of points won with first services (87%) and managed to make the break sure in six out of the nine chances he had. His opportunism and strength made him achieve a resounding victory. “Winning always brings about confidence, I made some good serves, played well and left the match against Golubev feeling satisfied”, he stated. In the next round, he will face the French Gael Monfils, who defeated him in the fourth round in tennis in the Olympic Games in Beijing. At that moment, David blamed his lack of steady pace of matches. In Flushing Meadows (New York) the situation is different. The man from Cordoba had time to train and is in good shape. However, he is not over-confident: “Every match is difficult and nobody gives anything away, so one has to play well to win. I have played against Monfils twice, winning once and losing the other. He plays well, has a good service and is dangerous”, the man from Unquillo stated.
