David plays his Return Game against Del Potro
As weeks pass by, David has been improving his game. After long interruptions because of a hip injury, the tennis player from Córdoba has found his pace in matches first in Stockholm and last week in the Madrid Masters Series. This week in Basel, a tournament where his performances have been outstanding (champion in 2002, finalist in 2003 and 2004), he seems to have improved even more. In the first round he eliminated with great authority the Spaniard Albert Montañes 6-4 and 6-2, then he defeated the tall Belgian Kristof Vliegen 6-4, 5-7 and 7-6(4) in a hard-fought match and today the German Becker 7-6 (4) and 6-4. In semifinals on Saturday, he will once again face Juan Del Potro, the man from Tandil, to whom he lost 6-4 and 6-2 in Madrid and who is going through a great moment. According to the Scottish Andy Murray, Del Potro is nowadays one of the best five players in the world. It will be a good test for Nalbandian whose goal is to reach the final of the Davis Cup in Mar del Plata in peak conditions. This is his objective and he has been doing a great job in order to fully achieve it.
