David´s Words: I thought of not playing the Final
“On Saturday, I was not so well when I finished the match against Nikolay Davydenko and I even thought of not playing the final. But we did our utmost to get onto the court today”, said “King” David after losing the final of the Paris Masters Series to the French Jo Wilfried Tsonga 6-3, 4-6 and 6-4. Nalbandian pointed out that those problems will not prevent him from playing the final of the Davis Cup against Spain. “I´m having some problems with the sole in one foot and the big toe in the other. Some days off will do me good”, he said. The Argentine maintained that the key was Tsonga´s serving. “He served really well and hardly gave me the chance to hold rallies. When there was a rally , I was able to do something, but there weren´t many”, he said. Despite having lost, Nalbandian said that the result of his week in Paris “is really positive”, mainly “with the prospects of the Davis Cup”. “I have played many matches, and this was my intention so as to feel fine in the final of the Davis. Now I am going to rest a little, recover from my feet problems and prepare myself together with my coach for the Davis”, he declared.
