David begins to defend his Crown in the Telmex Cup.
David Nalbandian, the man from Córdoba, begins to defend the title in the Buenos Aires ATP facing the Ecuadorean Nicolás Lapentti on Monday (at 7.30 p.m.). The tournament is to be played in the traditional Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis and awards 600,000 dollars. Nalbandian and Lapentti have faced each other three times with three victories for the "King". Today, there is a marked difference in the ranking (the man from Unquillo is 10th while the Ecuadorean is 87th), and David is the home player; all this would indicate that he should have no problems in winning the first round. The match will be televised by TyC Sports. However, the prospects are that the man from Córdoba as well as Gastón "Gato" Gaudio win, and then face each other in the second round, which would be a really attractive match for the tournament.
