Davis Cup: The Series, according to David
The leader of the national team for the Davis Cup, deprived for the time being of playing since he is recovering from a hip surgery, talked about the series to be played since Friday by the Czech Republic and Argentina, in Ostrava and about taraflex, the fast surface at CEZ Arena. “As Radek Stepanek is not playing, Juan Martín (Del Potro) will have an easier match against (Ivo) Minar. Against Stepanek it would be a hardly-fought match, where they would both have the same chances to win. But against Minar, he will most probably win the point. As for Mónaco against Berdych, there are more chances for the Czech since he plays comfortably on this kind of surface. If they played on clay, the chances would be for Mónaco. The difference between Juan Martín and Mónaco´s game is Del Potro´s flat-shot tennis and that he serves better and this is why he causes more damage. Mónaco is a player whose game is based on the regularity at the back, so his performance is not that great since on this fast surface it is more difficult to defend. Their styles are better adjusted than ours to that surface. The ideal thing would be to win 2-0 before the doubles, which is their point in favor. But they are both difficult matches, although I think Juan Martín´s chance is more feasible. None of them will be easy; every match is hard but has to be played. In this case, Juan Martín is in a better position than Minar due to the position he holds in the ranking and due to his results, but the Davis is always different".
