David confirmed that his comeback will be in Auckland
“King” David will start competing for points again in the Auckland ATP Tournament (New Zealand). He had already anticipated this possibility in this page, but he confirmed it yesterday. The man from Córdoba, who faces the last stage of his recovery after undergoing hip surgery, will come back at the tournament of New Zealand between January 11th and 16th. With the aim of recovering the pace and getting in better conditions to the Australia Open, the first Grand Slam of the season to be played in Melbourne, Nalbandian decided to bring forward the date for his comeback to the professional circuit. Nalbandian, former number three in the world, has not played since May, when he was operated on. The 27 year old player from Córdoba "is a quality player who has something special in his game as witnessed by his Grand Slam Record of having reached a final and several semifinals", Richard Palmer, the director of the Auckland Tournament, stated.
