Gulbis, a Difficult Rival in the Indian Wells Debut
David made a great debut at the Indian Wells Masters Series, which awards $3.8 million dollars in prizes. He defeated Leton Ernest Gulbis, 6-4, 4-6 and 7-6 (4) in two hours and 39 minutes and made his run into the third round. Leton (80th in the ATP) was a difficult rival who complicated things because of his great serves; he fired 19 aces. However, “King David” managed to win the head-to-head match. On Tuesday, he will face the Czech Radek Stepanek with whom he is 1-1 in the history of the circuit.
